The Frankfurt Stadtwald is an amazing place to run! I didn't know what to say about the "Distance" of the run because the forest seems endless and there are more trails than I can count. The trails crisscross through the forest. When I lived near the forest for 7 weeks one summer, I ran on a new trail everyday and never reached the end of the forest - even on a 12 mile run. A tiny section of the trails are paved, but 99% of the trails are dirt or gravel. The trails run through forest, wide-open fields, and along train tracks. I also saw some wildlife in the forest including some deer, a HUGE woodpecker, and some wild pigs - I guess that's what they were.... I felt pretty safe in the Stadtwald for two reasons - Europe in general is much safer than the United States and there were plenty of other walkers, runners, and bicyclists in the park. This is truly one of the best places I have ever run and I highly recommend it!

The Frankfurt Stadtwald is located mostly to the south of the city, but I think there are sections to the northwest, too. I lived in a small town near the airport and found several entrances to the forest from the town. (Kelsterbach) If you look on a map of Frankfurt, you will notice huge green areas - this is the Stadtwald and it has numerous entrances.
