The largest road race in Beaufort County, The Island Packet Firecracker 5000, will be held on Sunday, July 4th at 8:00am at the Mall at Shelter Cove. The 19th Annual event features all standard male and female race divisions including men?s clydesdale, women?s filly, kids and senior. The 5K (3.1 miles) Island Packet Firecracker 5000 course starts and finishes behind the Mall at Shelter Cove and takes participants through the fast and flat roads around Shelter Cove Harbour. Each year some 800 runners & walkers from all over the United States participate in this healthy family event. A percentage of proceeds will benefit Hilton Head Aquatics and The Hilton Head Runners Club. Prizes will be presented to the top five overall male and female finisher?s plus the top three in each age category will also receive unique awards.
