This is a trail run unlike any other, pairing the magic of the city by the Bay with the scenic beauty of the rugged Pacific coast. If you haven't yet experienced the Coastal Trail before, this is a must-do event! If you already have, we know you won't miss this chance to join us! Limited entries. Pre-register to avoid being left out!
The variety along this course makes it a feast for any runner. Starting from East Crissy Field with the Palace of Fine Arts in the background, you'll make your first strides along the promenade parallel to the windsurfing beach as you head toward the Golden Gate Bridge. A short stretch on the bike path will take you under the bridge and to the start of the Coastal Trail. The trail hugs the Pacfic coastline with a short diversion through historic defense batteries before dropping down to Baker Beach.
10K runners will turn around at the west end of the beach. And then it's simply back the way you came, right? Well, not exactly. We're throwing in a trip up the notorious Sand Ladder for good measure. At the top of the ladder, you'll rejoin the Coastal Trail and from that point, head back the way you came.
After crossing the beach, 20K runners will continue their run with a short jaunt through San Francisco's Seacliff neighborhood before catching the Land's End extension of the Coastal Trail adjacent to the Lincoln Park Golf Course. This is where the "Escape" truly begins. You'll marvel at the tranquility along this section of trail - an undiscovered treasure just footsteps from a major metropolis! The turnaround is located at the end of the trail, near the foot of Clement Street above the Cliff House restaurant. You'll return along the same route, taking the same detour up the Sand Ladder that the 10K runners made earlier.
The start/finish area will be at the west end of Crissy Field, located on Mason Street in the Presidio.
