Running Fit is presenting for the 10th consecutive year, Dances With Dirt, a 100k relay, 50k and 50 mile ultra races starting at 6 a.m. on September 11, 2004 in Hell, Mich.
?Weak, wimpy, treadmill running pansies who are afraid to get dirty need not apply,? said Randy Step, event director AKA Head Goat. ?Expect to be scratched, muddy, bruised and covered with poison ivy by the time you reach the finish line.?
Dances With Dirt was selected by the national publication ?Trail Runner Magazine? (September 2000 issue) as one of the ?Dirty Dozen?; the 12 most difficult trail running events in North America.
Two thousand extreme trail running athletes from around the globe will converge for this romp in the swamp and test of human endurance. The team event comprised of 350 teams of five, sold out eight months in advance of the race. Beginning at Half Moon Lake Beach, Pinckney Recreation Area, Pinckney, Mich. the course runs though miles of swamps, river crossings, hills and ankle twisting footing- in other words, 62 miles through Hell.
