The Cinco-Cinco is a fundraiser for the Gilbert Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship. Gil was the Ombudsman at Colorado State University from 1990 to August, 1993. On August 2, 1993 he was hit by a drunk driver while jogging along a pathway near his home and subsequently died from his injuries. To remember Gil and to encourage everyone to drive sober, the Inaugural Cinco-Cinco 5K Run was held in May 1994 in conjunction with the Old Town Cinco de Mayo festivities. On the average, approximately 300 runners and walkers participate in this event.

This 14th annual event will be held on May 5, 2007. The course starts at the Oval on the Colorado State Univeristy campus, winds around the historic portion of campus and heads out toward the foothills before looping back to the Oval.

The Fun Run for children is a fast lap around the Oval scheduled after the last finisher of the 5K Run/Walk.From Denver- I-25 North to the Prospect Rd. exit (approx. 65 miles).

Head west on Prospect to College Ave. (approx. 5 miles).

Turn right (north) on College and proceed to Laurel (approx. 1 mile).

Turn left (west) on Laurel to Meldrum.

Turn left (south) into the parking lot and park behind the first building on your left. This is the Music Building.

The run begins on the east side of the Music Building which sits on the Oval.
