The official mileage as posted by the county signs is 14 miles from Cato to Fair Haven or 28 miles round trip. Running it took me 4:18 at a 9:20 min/mile pace with some stops for photos.

The trail is a no brainer and a good long run where you can zone out without worry or tripping or roots or negotiated tricky footing. 98% of this trail is flat and straight. Generally you've on an elevated former rail line with standing swamp water to the east and farmland, banks or more swamp to the west.

Bugs were not a bad problem, though there were many spots where the deer flies would appear in swarms and dive bomb your head until you killed them all. mosquitoes only became an issue if you stop.

There was one stretch with standing water, one spot that blocked the trail required climbing a bank to avoid. Bikers would not bother.

Overall this is a fine trail, but would be boring for any technical biker. I ran across one 4 wheeler who took off like a shot when he saw me taking a picture of him. I also ran across one bicycle built for two.

Recommended Route: Cato to Fair Haven - Sports Store and Pizza shop at Fair Haven.Trailhead is .10 miles West of Cato four corners on Rt. 31. on north side of road. Can\\'t miss it.
