The 6th Annual Canine Classic is slated for Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the Boulder Reservoir. This community fundraising event combines a 5K and 10K run/walk with dogs. The race is also open to participants without a canine companion and is a popular tune-up and qualifying race for the Bolder Boulder.
All proceeds from the Canine Classic benefit Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA), formerly the Boulder County Rape Crisis Team. MESA is a 33-year-old nonprofit agency that provides support services?including a 24-hour rape crisis hotline?to victims of sexual assault and their family and friends. MESA also offers Sexual Assault Prevention Education programs to youth and adults throughout Boulder County. Last year, the 24-hour hotline took over 1,000 calls from victims of sexual assault, and the sexual assault prevention program educated 4,500 youth and 1,500 adults in Boulder County.
