Each Saturday morning, beginning around 6:30, a group of 20-30 (or more) runners group together at Mike & Marcie White's house for their weekly "long run". The members are diverse: many different nationalities, different races, aged 17-72, fast, slow, beginners, veterans. All are welcome. Some have no intention of running the entire course for which water & sports drinks are positioned ahead of time every 3-4 miles. Some are newbies and trying to work up to doing the full distance. On any given weekend, there is probably one or more training for a marathon and the full distance is designed to accomodate these racers. After the run, everyone is encouraged to join back up at the house for bread warm out of the bread machine, fresh coffee, water, sports drinks, and wonderful fruits and snacks (it has become a pot luck brunch every Saturday). In the warm/hot weather, we take a dip in the pool, and in the cool/cold weather, we huddle by the fire.
Many members of the group also meet mid-week for some sort of speed work: hill repeats, track workouts, etc.
The Saturday runs are, for the most part, on low-traffic, country roads, many of which are gravel. There is lovely scenery with typical Mississippi views: cows grazing in meadows, gently rolling hills, Pine trees, kudzu, and fresh air.

Each Saturday morning: distance varys in length from 10-23 miles. The pace is whatever each runner wants his to be. There are always fast, young people, and slow, older ones, with everything imaginable in between.
Wednesday speed work: at the MSU track; at the MSU "North Farm", or at the Research and Development Park
