The BLUEgrass Runners Club is a non-profit organization based in Lexington, Kentucky, and devoted to promoting fitness, fellowship and fun for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Our members range from milers to marathoners; walkers to sprinters; teenagers to veterans. You can connect with other runners and walkers through our weekly Club runs and social events. You can also become more involved in the community by volunteering for some of the many races and other charitable functions sponsored by the Club throughout the year.
Club members with similar goals and paces often meet informally throughout the week to run or walk together. Ask around and the odds are good that you'll find someone in your area with a similar schedule and pace. You can also find folks to run with by dropping in on a group run or participating in our marathon and long distance training program.
The Club offers to its members a free marathon and long distance training program with personalized schedules, group runs and experienced coaching. You can also get in touch with other runners and find out about upcoming training runs by visiting our Message Boards.
You don't have to be a marathoner to come out and join us for a Sunday social run, and the sprinters among us enjoy congregating every Wednesday for some speed work on the track. There are runners at a wide range of paces represented at both, so don't worry if you're just blowing the dust off your old running shoes (unless you start having knee problems - then you should go to John's and have them fit you for a new pair).
