This route forms a large loop around Roosevelt Island on the Potomac River. It follows Rock Creek Parkway and the Potomac River to the Arlington Memorial Bridge, crosses into Virginia, runs north on the bike path to Rosslyn where it crosses the Key Bridge back into DC. Run along the Georgetown Canal tow-path back to Rock Creek Parkway for a short return trip to 23rd and P Streets.

This route cannot be shortened, so you're committed to the loop.

From the start at 23rd and P Streets, run SW on the Rock Creek Parkway path and continue south along the Potomac River past the Lincoln Memorial (1.77 miles) to the Arlington Memorial Bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the bikepath alongside the GWP; as you enter Rosslyn, cross over the Francis Scott Key Bridge (1.68 miles from Lincoln) into Georgetown, and continue on a half block to the canal. A path alongside the canal heads east and intersects the Rock Creek Parkway (0.99 miles), where you turn left and head back to the start (0.61 miles).

Start at 23rd and P Street, 4 blocks west of Dupont Circle (the nearest subway stop).
