SALOMON
Salomon is the official footwear sponsor of the 24 Hrs of Frisco and we are proud to be associated with the best. Their lightweight, protective and speed oriented shoes are designed to address the performance needs of trail runners. All participants will be eligible for great SALOMON give-aways! And as an added bonus, SALOMON will provide footwear to ALL 1st PLACE TEAMS & SOLO?S in the 24 HR Division!
COURSE
Course starts and finishes at the Frisco Nordic Center. The loop is approximately 5.8-6 miles long and was measured with a GPS. The last .4 of a mile is on pavement to provide a safe finish to the loop during the night hours. Starting point is 9100 ft with a high point of 9500 ft. The S/F is on the North side of the Nordic Building and camping will be allowed south of the finish area-this will be obvious upon your arrival. The course will be marked with SALOMON caution tape and will have over 250 glow sticks placed for night running. It is the responsibility of each team member to know the course. Since it is a combination of nordic trails and existing single track, the map gives an approximation of the course using the nordic trails as marked during the winter and existing summer trails (please see map). We encourage teams and solo's to visit Frisco and run the area often to familiarize your self.
CAMPING & LODGING
Teams will be able to set-up camp adjacent to the Nordic Center or by car/truck/RV in the parking area, Saturday morning beginning at 8 am. No open fires are allowed at the site. The Nordic Center building is open throughout the event with water, hot coffee, hot water (for tea and chocolate), hot soup (late night), and restrooms. For information on local lodging properties, please contact the Town of Frisco at 800 424-1554.
RULES
1. Racers may choose to run in any order and may change the order at any time.
2. Racers must check-in after each lap.
3. Runners may continue on for more than 1 lap but must check-in after each lap.
4. Each team member must complete at least one lap or the team will be disqualified.
5. Coed teams must have at least 1 member of the opposite sex.
6. Racers must display their race number on the outer most layer of clothing at all times.
7. Teams are required to provide their own lighting system throughout the event.
8. No on-course support will be provided by the event as there will be water and refreshments available in the Nordic Center to re-supply teams.
9. Water and food may be supplied to any racer, anywhere on the course, as long as the racer and support is off the course and does not interfere with the race. Interference with other racers will result in disqualification.
10. Lapped racers must yield. Please be vocal as it?s the responsibility of the challenging racer to overtake safely. Racers being lapped must yield as soon as safely possible.
11. All runners must have their lighting systems on their person beginning at 6 pm, Saturday.
12. Shortcutting the course is not allowed. This will result in immediate disqualification.
13. Quiet hours will be imposed from 11 pm, Saturday until 7 am Sunday. During this time, noise must be kept to a minimum.
14. Order of finish is determined by number of laps, then by time.
15. Once results are posted, teams will have 15 minutes to challenge results at which time they will become official. We recommend that you monitor your team?s progress and compare it with the "official scorers" as the event is progressing to avoid any problems at the conclusion.
16. One person must be designated as the Captain of the team to ensure the team is registered correctly (information is correct), and to deal with event staff in the event of problems or concerns.
17. The event director has final say in any ruling, including rulings made by staff/volunteers.
18. 24 Hr SOLO?s ONLY-pacers will be allowed from 9:30 pm to the finish (pacers please do not cross finish line on final lap). ALL pacers will be required to sign waivers.
Additional rules may be added as questions arise, so please continue to check this site for updates. Captains will receive a set of rules at check-in. For safety reasons, the event reserves the right to cancel or change a portion of the course if inclement weather or dangerous conditions exist. If cancelled, final results will be based on completed laps at the time the event was called.
TIMING & RESULTS
Finish Order is determined by number of laps, then time. In order to qualify for awards, Teams must complete their race within the allotted time frame. Teams may complete their race within 59.59 minutes prior to the "official" finish hour or within 59.59 minutes after. Teams may choose to send another runner out and continue, or officially finish the race prior to the "official" finish hour. If another runner is sent out, that runner must finish their lap before one hour expires after the official finishing hour or that lap does not count towards the teams' total. If final placing has already been established, we will request that another runner not enter the course in order to provide awards for the team. A runner can stop anywhere on the course and wait until the hour preceding the official finishing hour begins and then cross the finish line. No laps may start after the official finishing hour. Teams may choose to stop and rest at anytime during the event but must re-enter where they originally exited. The team (in its category) with the most laps is first. If teams have the same number of laps, the team that took less time within the above guidelines, wins.
Solo?s may complete their race at any time during the 6/24 Hrs and will be credited with laps run to that point to determine placing. Solo?s do not have to finish within the above time constraints but must run at least 4 laps to qualify for awards.
Minimum Age Requirement: All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver. Additionally, all participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present on site for the duration of the event. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
1 1/2 hrs west of Denver on I-70
