Something for everyone here: larger-than-average rainbows, cutthroats and browns can be caught right near your campsite, or troll for trophies. Some of the biggest kokanee salmon in the state are caught here. A State Parks Pass is required.

Sports writers across the state have written volumes about Elevenmile's fantastic fishing. Rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon, northern pike, small-mouth bass and carp are all found within the waters of this 3,400 surface-acre reservoir. Waterfront camping, scenic vistas, uncrowded boating and ideal wind conditions for sailing and windsurfing make Elevenmile a best bet for all visitors. The park is open year-round, offering spectacular Rocky Mountain sunsets and plenty of room to breathe.

The lake is stocked with kokanee salmon and both cutthroat and rainbow trout. Northern pike are plentiful and carp abound in the shallow bays and inlets, providing great bow-fishing opportunities. A few fortunate anglers even take home an occassional yellow perch.

Fishing tournaments are held periodically throughout the year. Ice fishing tournaments are typically held each month through the winter and the spring tournament after ice-off is usually held mid-May.

Fishing is prohibited in the restricted area near the dam (east end of the reservoir), but is permitted everywhere else.

Elevenmile Reservoir has been designated by Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) as one of its spawning resources for kokanee. A kokanee spawning operation has been set up downstream of the Eleven Mile weir. It is marked by a boundary of orange snow fence and may only be entered by DOW personnel. The closed area will be monitored by Eleven Mile Rangers and unauthorized persons found inside the enclosed area or individuals attempting to remove fish from the closed area will be cited. The spawning operations success will help to ensure the future health and size of the kokanee population at Elevenmile Reservoir, as well as other locations throughout the state.

Elevenmile Reservoir is located west of Colorado Springs on Highway 24 to the town of Lake George and south to park entrance.
