This paved path runs from the eastern side of Glenwood Springs up through the beautiful and rugged Gledwood Canyon towards Dotsero. The trail parallels Interstate 70 and the Colorado River through the canyon. There are rest areas (with restrooms) and pay phones along the way.

If you have the option of a shuttle or you can have someone drop you off, start on the east end of Glenwood Canyon and run west towards Glenwood Springs. Hint - it is all downhill this way.

If you are looking for a longer run, start in Glenwood Springs and run east. Turn around at the eastern end of the canyon and return on the same paved path (downhill) all the way back to Glenwood Springs for a nice 34.6 miler.

As another alternative take the Hanging Lake Trail (which forks off the path about 7 miles from Glenwood Springs) for a short but steep climb to Hanging Lake. This out-and-back alternative will add about 2.25 miles to the run.

From Glenwood Springs (west): Take the Glenwood Springs exit from Interstate 70 and go left to park in one of the public lots. The run begins on 6th Street at the Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves behind the Hot Springs Pool ( a great place to end up after your run).

From Dotsero (east): Take the exit off Interstate 70 at the eastern mouth of Glenwood Canyon. There is parking near the trailhead.
