This bouldering area is located on the north east side of Carter Lake. There are numerous problems for all abilities here. The problems tend to be a bit taller than the climbs in the Dam Areas. There are quite a few hi-ballers that would break an ankle, so definitely bring the crash pads.
Parts of Biglandia can be really hot in the summer. In general, the best time of the year for Carter Lake is fall, winter, and spring. The slopes and boulders tend to stay snow free most of the time (except maybe the north facing sides).
Popular Climbs
- Redneck Traverse (V7) at Redneck Wall
- Abdo Cave (V8) at Abdo Wall
- Points de Lyon (V4) at The Rotund
- Big Betty Traverse (V5) at Big Betty Boulder
Directions
Take CR31 north to Carter Lake. Cross the dam about 1 mile to Carter Knolls on the left side of the road. Park, cross the road and follow old roadbed down drainage to boulders.
